The 2017 TF2 Mixup

What is The Team Fortress 2 Mixup?

Starting in July 2010, the Mixup Match pits celebrities and gamers against one another, creating a fun experience for both participants and viewers.

We have a charitable focus in our events, and fundraisers have become a key aspect of what we do – and why we do it. In our latest events, we have taken part in fundraisers gathering $2,000,000, for amazing organizations like Oxfam and Doctors Without Borders.

We aim to continue our work in Team Fortress 2 as well as other games, and hope to bring you more festivities, charities, celebrities, and laughs!

The Charity

How it Works

Each team will compete in a round robin tournament consisting of three rounds. The two top teams will advance to the final championship round. The remaining teams will be pit up against each other in a hilarious and nonsensical “Match of Losers”.

The tournament follows the arena game mode. The goal for both teams is to kill all of the opposing team’s players, with no respawning during rounds. If both teams survive one minute of fighting, a control point will unlock, allowing a team to win by capping the point. – Excerpt from the Team Fortress 2 Wiki

Round 1 (Nucleus)A diabolical doomsday device is the foundation of this circular arena map, which features long sightlines and a bottomless radioactive pit underneath most of the game area. The cap, located in the center of the arena, is only accessible for most classes by catwalks suspended over a chasm, which open after the timer has run down.
— The Sniper vs Spy Update (Day 2)
Round 2 (Offblast)Arena Offblast is a fast-paced, high-altitude community map set in a top secret missile silo wedged into the top of a hollowed-out mountain. Open-air paths and narrow hallways converge on a central control point located just under the silo’s blast doors. This mountaintop arena also boasts a sheer cliff face encircling the battleground, giving you the chance to help your opponents improve their tactics. Specifically, anyone you blast over the side will get some time to think about the various flaws in their “standing next to the edge of a cliff” strategy as they plummet to an excruciating, non-respawnable death.
— The Classless Update
Round 3 (Lumberyard)Lumberyard has an unbalanced structure, with one half of the map climbing up towards a large mountain peak, while the other dips down into a valley. A series of rooftops at the map’s center serves as the key battleground area, with lateral flanking being the key maneuver at ground level. When the capture point becomes active after 60 seconds, multiple entrances open up into the central control point, which becomes the focus of the fighting as the match nears its end. Lumberyard is one of the few Arena maps without water, and contains only a single health kit.
— No time for crying!
Finals (Well)Well (Arena) consists mainly of the Control Point version's central capture point area. Other areas are blocked off and inaccessible. Spawn points for each team are moved further up, and the large water channels have been removed in favor of small pools that directly connect with the main building. - Official TF2 Wiki
